SCF constructed a medical clinic in rural Davao where children and families have limited access to basic medical care. The clinic provides basic medical care as well as critical surgeries to correct physical abnormalities such as cleft palates and clubfeet.
SCF has partnered with Deseret International to fund these corrective and reconstructive surgeries. Local volunteer physicians become partners with Deseret International, assisted by American doctors who, at their own expense, travel to Davao and train local physicians in the latest techniques and medical equipment.
For an average of $45, you can help cure blindness, allow lame to walk and help deformed children to speak and eat normally for the first time in their lives.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIFE OF A CHILD
Teoderico was born on the island of Mindoro. He was the second child of the Callejo family to be born with a cleft lip and pallet. His mother had already experienced the ridicule and isolation experienced by Teoderico’s older sister. She felt helpless, too poor to give their son a chance of leading a happy and productive life. Nobody could have been more overjoyed with her son’s new and handsome smile!
