SCF is committed to meeting children’s basic needs that are not already being addressed by governments or relief organizations.
SCF has no overhead expenses, making it one of the leanest and the most efficient charitable organizations of its kind. Every dollar donated to SCF goes directly to help children.
SCF regularly partners with local volunteer physicians and humanitarian organizations which provide critical and life-changing surgeries for children. Because these surgeries are performed by volunteers, costs are low. For example, the cost for a cleft lip or cleft palate surgery is $34; the cost of returning sight to the blind through a cataract surgery is $11; the cost of detecting and curing leprosy in a child is less than $100; and for approximately $100 a crippled child with club feet can be healed and live a normal life.
how we started
The SCF was formed in 1993, at the time Chairman Gary Sabin established his first publicly traded real estate company. Mr Sabin, a father of 5 children, determined to dedicate a portion of the profits he received and contribute them to a foundation which would help address the medical needs of children. Since that time, the SCF has served and blessed the lives of over 500,000 children world-wide.
